Gunman Who Shot Brady Police Officer Charged with Attempted Capital Murder

BRADY – The identity of the man who is accused of shooting a Brady police officer Tuesday has been revealed.

As previously reported, on May 3, an officer with the Brady Police Department was shot during a standoff near Crothers Ave. and Bridge St. For the original report see: Brady Police Officer Shot

New information obtained by San Angelo LIVE! reveals that the man responsible for shooting the officer is Decoda Blake, 35, of Defiance, OH.

Blake allegedly shot the officer at around 6 a.m. Tuesday after BPD responded to a residence on the 300 block of Pearl St. for the report of a disturbance. The officer who was shot was seen later that day back at the crime scene.

Blake was eventually taken into custody with the help of the Tom Green County Special Response Team. He was then transported to the McCulloch County Jail. It was learned that Blake had a number of outstanding warrants out of Ohio.

In total Blake was charged with attempted capital murder of a peace officer and possession of a prohibited item in a correctional facility. It is unknown at this time what Blake was attempting to bring into the jail.

Blake remains in custody in the McCulloch County Jail.

Hah! Decoda....  I'll bet his folks were shooting for Dakota. Not that it'll matter, seeing as how he's going away for a very long time.
