Murder Suspect Jailed After Deadly Shooting Near Lake Colorado City

 

COLORADO CITY, TX – A shooting near Lake Colorado City over the weekend left one man dead and one behind bars.

According to the sources close to the situation, on Apr. 29, deputies with the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the Lois Ln. for the report of a shooting victim.

The caller told dispatch that they were taking a shooting victim, Chris Nix, 38, to the emergency room. It was later learned that Nix had been shot during a alteration with 43-year-old Nicholas Leyse. 

During the altercation, Leyse is accused of not only shooting Nix but a mobile home as well. During the shooting people were inside of the home but no one in there was injured.

Nix later died at the hospital from his injuries.

Leyse was arrested by MCSO deputies and was charged with Murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held in the Mitchell County Jail on a $165,000 bond.
