Capital Murder Jury Trial Set to Begin Friday in Tom Green County

SAN ANGELO – The capital murder trial of the State of Texas vs. Garry Jennings is set to begin on Friday in Tom Green County.

Jennings is one of the defendants in the Duckworth Rd. capital murder case. He is accused of playing a role in the murder of Eric Torrez.

Along with Jennings, four other people were involved in the murder. David Navarro, Angella Wray, Garry's son Stephen Jennings, and Stephen's wife Kristen Jennings.

Garry is the final suspect to be adjudicated for the murder. Stephen was the only one of the other four who went to trial. He was found guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.

Navarro, Wray, and Kristen all took plea deals from the DA's office. In the deal they all agreed to testify against Garry and his son. Another person who will testify against Garry is the man who murdered and buried his wife under the San Angelo speedway. For more on this see:

In the Stephen Jennings trial it was shown that Torrez was killed by a gunshot to the head. It was also detailed that before he was killed that he was kidnapped and severely beaten.

Jury selection begins on Friday, May 6 with testimony set to begin on Monday.

A plea worksheet has been listed in court filings but no deal has been reached as of Monday.
