San Angelo Man Indicted for Stabbing His Ex-Girlfriend

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated assault after stabbing a woman in December 2021.

According to court documents, San Angelo police responded to 609 West 16th Street for a reported stabbing victim. Once police arrived, the victim was located and appeared to have several stab wounds consistent with an aggravated assault. The officer applied a tourniquet to the victim’s last arm due to a slash on the victim’s left wrist and stayed with the victim until medical personnel arrived.

Investigators responded to 609 West 16th Street and observed a Black Ford Expedition in the public roadway that was registered to the victim. Infront of the vehicle, a large pool of blood was observed, and blood droplets were discovered inside the vehicle as well.

The investigators then spoke with a witness who provided an interview and advised the defendant, Rashad Carter, walked into the residence and another individual asked if he was okay. The witness stated that Carter said no.

This witness then heard someone gasping for air, walked outside, and saw the victim drenched in blood. The witness stayed with the victim until medical personnel arrived. After the incident, the witness looked around the residence and found a knife in a bedroom that was possibly used during the assault.

Investigators spoke with the individual staying in this bedroom who advised the knife did not belong to them and they never placed the knife in the bedroom.

A 3rd witness provided an interview and said he asked Carter if he assaulted the victim who just said Carter had a grim look on his face and left the residence.

At Shannon Medical Center, investigators spoke with the victim. The victim advised Carter attacked her because she ended their relationship and when asked if Rashad Carter stabbed her and she answered yes.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at 609 West 16th Street. A knife was found in a bedroom which contained possible blood and was consistent with the injuries sustained by the victim.

Rashad Carter was booked into the TGCDF on December 28, 2021 and is currently and inmate being held on $75,000.00 bond.

My name is Pearlie and I am the victim of this assault. For years I tried to escape Rashad. The police always let him go. Now again he's getting off light. He should be charged with a first degree charge, considering I still can't use my left hand. He will never change and when he is released he'll assault someone again. He is a danger to society
