SAN ANGELO, TX – A traffic enforcement operation by the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office in March resulted in nearly 250 traffic stops for various offenses including possession of marijuana.
According to the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, during the month of March 2022, Tom Green County Sheriff's Office deputies participated in the Select Traffic Enforcement Program, Commercial Motor Vehicle STEP, and Impaired Driver Mobility campaign. These programs are designed to reduce fatality and major injury vehicle crashes, as well as detect impaired motorists in Tom Green County.
During the Select Traffic Enforcement and Commercial Motor Vehicle STEP program 236 traffic stops were conducted. During these traffic stops, deputies took 176 enforcement actions for speeding, 4 intersection violations, and 95 other infractions (Including all Commercial Vehicle Infractions). One subject was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, and two misdemeanor warrants were served.
The Impaired Driver Mobility campaign was conducted between March 4, 2022 and March 20, 2022. During this period, participating deputies conducted 104 traffic stops. Deputies made four arrests of motorists for the following violations: Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More, a third degree felony, Driving While Intoxicated with Blood Alcohol Concentration Greater than 0.15, a class A misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and one felony warrant service.
