Lubbock Man Indicted for Lewd Abuse of Child

LUBBOCK – A Lubbock man has been indicted by a Lubbock County grand jury on child sex abuse charges after testimony showed the victim’s mother did not believe the victim.

Cody Sullivan, 32, has been indicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child. A physician originally reported the incident to Lubbock PD on April 2019.

The mother of the victim was in a relationship with Sullivan at the time of the abuse and at one point asked for proof that Sullivan was abusing the victim and even said she was “done with” the victim because she was lying.

The victim told law enforcement that the abuse was happening whenever the mother was not around and that it started when the victim was around 5 or 6-years-old.

The mother of the victim told conflicting stories to the physician. One about the victim reporting sexual abuse to her and then said she did not say anything like that. When police asked about the conflicting stories and said that she thought they were talking about a different issue.

In a phone interview, the victim’s mother said she did not believe the victim due to the victim making sexual abuse allegations against her father and grandmother in Oklahoma even though Oklahoma law enforcement has no report of anything of the like happening.
