LUBBOCK, TX- A Lubbock man has been arrested in connection to a murder at a Lubbock area strip club has been arrested.
In early March, Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Angelwitch Cabaret club at 1:50 a.m. for reports of a shooting. When deputies arrived, 28-year-old Joseph Burks was found inside with a gunshot wound and was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect had already fled the scene.
Burks was a floor manager at the Angelwitch Cabaret club, located at Highway 87 between 82nd and 98th St. in Lubbock.
The Lubbock County Sheriff and Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit were investigating, and detectives were shown surveillance footage from the night of the incident. The video shows an altercation between Burks and the suspect. Then the video showed the suspect fired a shot at Burks who dropped to the floor.
The suspect left the club and got into his vehicle with another man and drove off. The investigation revealed that the suspect was Kennon Charles Shaw, 51.
Officers were dispatched to Shaw’s known address and found a vehicle matching the one that drove away from the scene.
Shaw was arrested 6 days later at the 200 block of Perdernales Street in Austin by U.S. Marshalls. He was transported to Lubbock County Detention Center and has a $500,000.00 bond.
