San Angelo Man Booked for Performing Lewd Acts with a Child

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was arrested on Monday after a grand jury indicted him for having sex with a child.

According to court documents, on Mar. 21, deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office arrested David Zapata, 20, of San Angelo, after a grand jury indicted him for sexual assault of a child.

In the indictment, the district attorney's office accuses Zapata of having sex with a child under the age of 17 on or around the day of Aug. 17, 2020. The indictment came down on Nov. 4, 2021. A warrant was issued on Nov. 17, 2021.

The warrant was not served by law enforcement until Mar. 21. Zapata now remains in the jail on a $45,000 bond. If he is released he can have no contact with the victim.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Apr. 6, 2022 at 2 p.m.

Zapata spent time in the Tom Green County Jail from  Aug. 22, 2020 until Dec. 29, 2020 after he pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a vehicle.
