High Speed Chase Through 4 Counties Ends in Santa Anna Man's Arrest

GRANBURY, TX- A Santa Anna man has been arrested after taking police on a high-speed chase through 4 counties.

On Monday, March 14, 2022, the Early Police Department was in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that started in Early, Texas and ended in Hood County between Tolar, Texas and Granbury, Texas.

According to a press release, at about 6:30 p.m., the Early Police Department received a call that a maroon Dodge dually pickup truck was stolen in Coleman County and was traveling through Early. The stolen vehicle was located at the 1000 block of Early Boulevard and police attempted to stop the truck.

The driver of the stolen truck stopped but then sped off traveling east on Highway 377 and into Comanche County. The chase began and exceeded speeds of up to 120 MPH.

The pursuit exited Comanche County and went into Erath County where Dublin police deployed a tire deflation spike strip. This ended up causing the front tires of the dually to blow out. Now the stolen vehicle is running on rims, which slowed the speeds down to about 50 MPH.

The subject vehicle drove through Stephenville and crashed into the rear of another vehicle that caused minor damage. The chase slowed even more as it continued through Erath County and into Hood County as the stolen vehicle is now driving on the front bumper.

The destroyed and damaged dually eventually stopped between the cities of Tolar and Granbury due to a mechanical failure. The driver ditched the stolen truck and began escaping on foot but was apprehended quickly by officers.

The driver, identified as Donald Goodwin of Santa Anna, Texas was taken to Hood County Jail. Goodwin will face several charges from the counties he ran through and an evading arrest with a vehicle charge. He also had outstanding felony warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
