Coleman Man Arrested After Running from 3 Law Enforcement Agencies

 

COLEMAN, TX- A Coleman man who was the suspect in a convenience store robbery is behind bars after fleeing law enforcement.

According to the Coleman Police Department, a robbery occurred on February 21, at a 7/11 on North Neches Street. Through tips from Coleman citizens, a suspect was developed.

Then on March 9, 2022, at 12:15 a.m., a vehicle was found wrecked and on fire in Taylor County. The destroyed vehicle was owned by a Coleman resident who then discovered that another vehicle had been stolen from his residence. A description of the second vehicle had been given to Taylor County who then located it.

The Taylor County Deputy tried to stop the suspect vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and began a pursuit heading into Coleman County.

The Coleman County Sheriff’s Office and Coleman Police Department joined the pursuit close to a roadside park off Highway 84.

The suspect turned west of Roosevelt Street then turned behind a Pizza Hut. The driver then sped off after hitting a Coleman and Taylor County Sheriff’s vehicle and turned south down Mountain Street.

The suspect crashed the vehicle at the intersection of Peach Street and Mountain Street, then fled on foot. He was located by Coleman Police who attempted to stop him when he fled again, this time on foot. The suspect, who was identified as Trent Paul Thompson was captured when he tried to jump a fence.

Thompson had a loaded 9mm pistol in his possession and also confessed to the robbery of the 7/11 convenience store.

Trenton Thompson has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, burglary of a habitation, evading arrest on foot, and two counts each of aggravated assault on a public servant and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Thompson was booked into the Coleman County Law Enforcement Center and has as $250,000.00 bond.
