Lubbock Man Guilty of Continuous Lewd Acts with Child

LUBBOCK, TX- A Lubbock man is facing up to 99 years in prison after being found guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child.

On Thursday, Saul Lozano, 41, has been found guilty of sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl for more than a year and a half. Lozano was accused of 10 acts during the trail in which his accuser testified in detail about the abuse suffered at Lozano’s hands.

Lozano had to be removed from the courtroom after a profanity laced outburst directed at investigators and attorneys accusing them of not investigating this case the correct way.

Then on Friday, Lozano refused to return but the trail continued.

Prosecutors said in closing arguments, “Each act is a separate act… Each act is a separate act. Saul admitted that he did those things. Your objective is to find him guilty of two of these acts. It’s not going to be hard. He admitted that he did eight of the 10 alone. The acts all happened within 30 days apart. The defendant is guilt on his own admission alone.”

Defense attorney Rusty Gunter said, “There are a couple of things I want to focus on, why would he confess to the acts in the Tahoe? He admitted those things but then why would he lie about the other acts. Remember if it didn’t come from the witness stand it’s not evidence.”

It took the jury about 1 hour and 20 minutes to reach a verdict.
