San Angelo Man Caught Using Lewd Website to Prey on Teens

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was arrested on Tuesday after he admitted using a website to watch lewd videos of children.

According to court documents, on Feb. 15, Zachary Green, 24, of San Angelo was arrested by Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety for possession of child pornography. 

The investigation began when the DPS was alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a user on SnapChat had uploaded a video of an adult male having sex with a prepubescent child. The users name was listed as "g_zachy."

The SnapChat username was traced back to Green's cellphone number. After learning the identity of the alleged porn distributor, the troopers located Green for a meeting at his employer.

In the affidavit, the trooper states that the first thing he told Green was that he was free to leave at any time and that he did not have to talk with them. Green instead chose to stay and talk with the trooper.

Green admitted during the conversation that he had been utilizing Omegle.com child pornography regularly. 

Omegle is a free online chat website that allows users to socialize with others without the need to register. The service randomly pairs users in one-on-one chat sessions where they chat anonymously using the names "You" and "Stranger" or "Stranger 1" and "Stranger 2" in the case of Spy mode.

He went on to tell the trooper that he had been watching child pornography since he was 15-years-old. He claimed that he was attracted to girls about 13-years-old and that he got sexual gratification from viewing pornography depicting children about that age.

The trooper then asked Green about the original reason he was there, the SnapChat account. Green explained that in Apr. 21 he used the snapchat account for child pornography.

Four days after the conversation a warrant was issued and Green was arrested. He was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on Feb. 15 at 3:04 p.m. He was released the following day at 12:58 p.m. His bond was set at $20,000.
