Mother Arrested After 1-Year-Old Found Eating Own Feces

HOUSTON, TX – A maintenance man saved several children last Wednesday after he reported the horrid living conditions in a Houston apartment.

According to news reports, on Feb. 2, officers with the Houston Police Department were dispatched to an apartment complex for the report of child protection issue.

When they arrived, the officers spoke with a maintenance worker for the complex. He told police that he found a 2-year-old girl who was wondering near the pool, barefoot and covered in filth.

Police were then taken to the apartment by the child. Once there they found five more children ranging from ages of 1-9. It was quickly learned that the six children had been living in filth and squalor, a term used to describe the most horrid living conditions.

Examples used in court on Feb. 7 explained that one child was special needs and couldn't take care of himself and the nine-year-old was covered in lice. The worst example used was about the baby. The officers found the child so deprived of food that the one-year-old was eating its own feces.

One of the mothers, Riccy Padilla-Hernandez, 28, arrived back at the home to find the officers. She told them that she had just left and that she was "doing her taxes." The other mother, Yures Molina, 34, was then located. It was then learned that she was 7 months pregnant with her fourth child.

The two were arrested and charged with multiple counts endangering a child. Their bonds are both set at $15,000. CPS has taken custody of the children.
