SAN ANTONIO, TX – The San Antonio Police Department is currently investigating the shocking murder of an Army Staff Sergeant who may have ties to San Angelo and they are offering a $30,000 reward.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, on Jan. 1, 2021, officers with the San Antonio Police Department were dispatched to the I-10 near Wurzbach for the report of a shooting.
When they arrived, the officers discovered a 2019 white Dodge Charger that had been shot on the driver side of the vehicle. The driver, Army Staff Sergeant Jessica Ann Mitchell, was rushed to the hospital after being shot multiple times. She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:21 a.m.
The initial investigation revealed that Mitchell had left a New Year's Eve Celebration at the 4th quarter sports bar, located at 8779 Wurzbach. After 2 a.m., Mitchell left the bar and was followed by a red SUV.
This SUV is believed to be the shooting suspect's vehicle. The following video was surveillance footage released by the San Antonio Police Department:
New information revealed by the SAPD points the investigation towards San Angelo.
"Through their investigation, Homicide Detectives believe that an individual or individuals in the San Angelo area may have information in this SAPD murder investigation," stated the SAPD in their release. "There is up to a $30,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in Mitchell’s murder."
