ABILENE, TX –– An Abilene man is facing criminal charges after allegedly shooting at a Taylor County Electric employee.
According to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, on Wednesday morning around 11:30 a.m., Taylor Electric received a report of a power outage at the 600 block of Derstine Road.
When the electric company employee arrived at the address he witnessed a male suspect, later identified as Derrick Holdridge, shooting a rifle into the air. Holdridge then shot in the direction of the employees.
When TCSO deputies arrived at the scene they attempted to make contact with Holdridge at his home. Deputies then asked for the assistance of the Abilene Police Department SWAT Team. Both agencies then searched the area using drones.
Sometime later a female, identified as Amanda Holdridge, exited the suspect's home and was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.
Holdridge was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and State Jail Felony Criminal Mischief for disrupting electrical service.
Derrick and Amanda Holdridge have four children who were in school at the time of the incident. Child Protective Services was contacted and the children were placed in their custody.
