Christoval Woman Indicted for Shooting her Neighbor's Cat

SAN ANGELO, TX- A Christoval woman has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for shooting her neighbor’s cat.

On October 10, 2021, Tom Green County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to 8th Street in Christoval, Texas regarding an animal being shot.

Once deputies arrived, they made contact with the victim who stated that his cat had been shot with a .22 rifle.  The victim had been feeding and taking are of the cat for about one year and named the cat “Mama Cass”.

“Mama Cass” was observed and had an apparent gunshot wound to the right side of its belly that was swollen and surrounded by blood. The cat also had a pink collar on.

Deputies made contact with the suspect, Rebecca Bilbo, who stated she shot the cat with a .22 rifle because the cats were tearing up her trash. Bilbo said the cat she shot was in the alley heading towards her property and that the cat was not attacking anybody or anything prior to her shooting it. Deputies seized a Keystone .22 rifle from Bilbo.

Bilbo provided a handwritten statement in which she wrote that she did shoot a “stray” cat in the alley.

The victim did not give Bilbo permission to shoot the cat and stated that he wanted to file criminal charges against the suspect.

Rebecca Bilbo was arrested and booked on October 14, 2021, for cruelty to animals, a 3rd degree felony. Bilbo is not currently an inmate in the Tom Green County Detention Facility.

A 3rd degree felony is punishable by 2 to 10 years imprisonment.

Dad always said don’t cut across mrs huffs land. And I saw her once . Old pioneer woman born in the late 1800s. She carried it 22 rifle with her and didn’t miss.

Wow!! Glad they got her. Now the neighborhood will so much safer(:(:(:

She should have stayed in her lane and waited until kitty came in her yard and then took action.
