Abilene Police Investigating Student Threat At Wylie ISD

ABILENE, TX –– An apparent safety threat made by a Wylie ISD high school student prompted swift actions from the district and police.

According to Wylie ISD, after officials became aware of the situation they immediately contacted the Abilene Police Department.

Upon investigating the alleged threat officers determined the threat was not imminent. The student who made the threat was 'secured' from all campuses and the district has increased security measures at the high school.

"A lesson that we try to reinforce with our students is to be vigilant and to SAY SOMETHING if they SEE or HEAR something that concerns them," said the district in a statement. "The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority and we are fully committed to work each day to ensure a safe environment for our campuses."

The student who initiated the threat violated the  District Code of Conduct –– which is legally considered to be a terroristic threat –– will face serious consequences.

The exact nature of threat has not been released.
