ABILENE, TX –– An Abilene man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to have his stepchildren murdered.
According to court documents, the situation unfolded on December 6th when Michael Rodriguez made an alarming report to the Abilene Police Department.
According to Rodriguez, he was offered $1,000 to murder the stepchildren of coworker Johnny Wayne Wright Jr.
Rodriguez told investigators Wright told him about issues in his marriage while making "disturbing comments" about his stepchildren.
The alleged comments included ones of sexual nature directed towards his stepdaughter and "using the children as a paycheck."
Wright allegedly told Rodrigeuz he would have him break into his family's house to commit the crime, causing him to be alarmed with said proposal.
Wright then stated his intention to purchase a rifle to murder his stepchildren and then Rodriguez.
He then allegedly tried to make arrangements to leave work to purchase an AR-15 style rifle in an outside county.
Wright was eventually terminated by his employer and was arrested on December 7th. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder.
His bond has been set at $250,000.
