A Violent FARC Guerrilla Soldier and 5 Dangerous Salvadoran Gang Members Arrested in South Texas

EDINBURG, TX – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents arrested a guerrilla member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), four Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) violent gang members and an 18th Street gang member this week.

According to the BBC, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People's Army (Spanish: Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia—Ejército del Pueblo, FARC–EP and FARC) is a guerrilla group in Colombia known to employ a variety of military tactics and more unconventional methods, including terrorism.  The FARC–EP is a leftist , socialist-communist force known for using violence to achieve its goals.   

On Dec. 7, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents encountered a group of 42 illegal aliens near Hidalgo. Record checks on a 38-year-old Colombian national revealed he was a guerrilla member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Hours later, MCS agents apprehended an MS-13 Salvadoran national within a group of 49 illegals consisting mainly of family members.

On Dec. 6, MCS agents conducting processing duties discovered two illegal immigrants were MS-13 gang members and another was an 18th Street gang member, all are nationals of El Salvador. One of the MS-13 gang members had previously been sentenced to 12 months’ probation for violating his domestic violence order in Union County, North Carolina. Record checks on the 18th Street gang member revealed he had been previously charged in his home country with murder and for being a gang member.

On Dec. 5, MCS apprehended a 25-year-old Salvadoran national illegal whose record checks revealed he was a MS-13 gang member previously convicted and sentenced to six months’ probation for possession with intent to promote child pornography in 2013. Four years later, he was sentenced to 20 days incarceration for possession of marijuana. Both arrests were in Conroe.

All subjects were processed accordingly.
