BRADY, TX –– A 30-year-old Texas woman is behind bars after a traffic stop led police to 1,000 grams of THC, marijuana, and methamphetamines.
According to the Brady Police Department, at approximately at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 87 N.
While completing a probable cause search, Officer Zachary Johnson found more than 1,000 grams of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.
According to BPD, "Texas law may consider the total weight of seized edibles to determine charges and penalties —not simply the amount of THC in them. This may occur when it is impossible to determine the volume of THC oil in a product apart from its dilutant or adulterant, as it is called under the law. Reverse engineering of how an edible was created or otherwise trying to determine the percentage of THC is sometimes too difficult for laboratories to determine."
As a result, Shelby Welker of Nederland, TX was arrested and charged with three felonies and two misdemeanors. Welker remains in the McCulloch County Jail on a $69,000 bond.
