Dead Man's Family Members Charged with Murder & Abuse of a Corpse

 

COMANCHE, TX – In early September 2021, the Comanche Police Department was contacted by a family member of Carl Woolsey (72 years of age). The family member stated they had been unable to contact Mr. Woolsey for a substantial period of time. In the early stages of this investigation, it appeared that Mr. Woolsey had been the victim of foul play.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers Division was contacted and a local Texas Ranger joined our investigative team. 

Investigators with the Comanche Police Department and the Texas Rangers continued the investigation and developed two specific individuals of interest. On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, those two individuals were contacted at an address in DeLeon Texas.

One individual has been identified as Misty Rene Woolsey, 44 years of age, and the second is her son Ryan Dallas Brown, 22 years of age. 

Misty Woolsey has been arrested and charged with Murder (1st Degree Felony), Abuse of Corpse (State Jail Felony) and Tampering with Evidence (2nd Degree Felony). She is currently in custody at the Comanche County Jail.

Ryan Brown has been arrested and charged with Abuse of Corpse (State Jail Felony), Tampering with Evidence (2nd Degree Felony), and outstanding warrants out of Brown County. He is currently in custody at the Comanche County Jail. 

This investigation is ongoing. All subjects arrested and charged in this investigation are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Ranger Division, the 220th District Attorney, and DeLeon PD assisted in this investigation.
