MEXICO CITY, MX –– Mexican authorities have confirmed the arrest of Rosalinda González Valencia. Gonzalez is the wife of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation cartel.
Gonzalez's husband, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho, currently runs one of the most violent and powerful cartels in Mexico. The U.S. has a $10 million bounty on Oseguera's head.
According to officials, Gonzalez was allegedly involved in the illicit finances of the cartel. She was arrested in May of 2018 but was later released after posting bail.
Officials stated Gonzalez was apprehended in Zapopan, Jalisco. Mexican officials stated the arrest is a "significant hit" to the cartel's financial structure.
Gonzales faces a wide range of charges in connection to her involvement with the cartel.
