HANKMAKER, TX –– A routine traffic stop led to the seizure of $25,000 inside a pair of Nike Jordan shoes and some weed.
According to the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a black Dodge Charger on I-10 for several traffic violations.
When the deputy made contact with the driver, identified as 36-year-old Regimend Bernard, they determined to have probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, investigators located $25,000 and marijuana inside a pair of Jordan tennis shoes. The subsequent investigation revealed the money was a result of illicit narcotics trafficking.
Bernard was arrested and transported to the Chambers County Jail and charged with Money Laundering.
