ABILENE, TX –– A 69-year-old Abilene man is facing criminal charges in connection to possessing child pornography.
According to the Abilene Police Department, Nils Dean Donnell was arrested on Friday by detectives with the Abilene Cyber Crimes Unit.
The arrest occurred after police executed a search warrant on Donell's home. He was subsequently charged with Possession of Child Pornography, a third-degree felony.
Initial reports indicated Donnell previously worked with children. On his LinkedIn profile, Donnell indicated he was employed with the Abilene ISD as a "computer literacy lab manager" at a local elementary.
Abilene ISD confirmed Donnell was employed with the district from 2004 to 2015 as a "paraprofessional" –– but offered no additional details.
Due to his close proximity to children for years, APD is seeking anyone who may have had "questionable dealings with Donnell." Any potential victims are asked to contact the non-emergency number, 673-8331.
Donnell was released after posting a $20,000 bail.
