NORTH PORT, FL – The search for Brian Laundrie may be coming to an end as the FBI confirmed that human remains have been located inside the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
According to multiple reports, on Oct. 20, a coroner with the Sarasota County Medical Examiner's Office as well as the Pasco County Sheriff's Office's Human Remains Detection Team were called out to the park to investigate belongings believed to be owned by Brian Laundrie.
Laundrie is on the run after police believe that he murdered his fiancé Gabby Petito. Search teams have been looking for him for weeks and believe this is a breakthrough in the search.
"Items of interest were located at the Carlton Reserve this morning in connection with the search for Brian Laundrie," stated an FBI official. "An FBI Evidence Response team is processing the scene. The reserve is closed to the public and no further details are available at this time."
The parents of Laundrie, Chris and Roberta, found the evidence in a new area during a search this morning. Law enforcement was aware of the search and assisted in the newly learned location of Laundrie's places to hike.
Not long in the search, crews found a bag believed to have numerous belongings that included clothes.
The FBI has not confirmed if it is in fact Laundrie's body that was found or if the search will continue.
