Carlsbad Murder Witness Takes Plea Deal for Lewd Images of Children

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was sentenced to four years in prison on Wednesday morning after Texas Rangers found a number of lewd images of children in his possession.

According to the court documents, on Oct. 21, Adrian Villarreal, 24, of San Angelo pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

Villarreal was originally arrested on Feb. 20, 2020 after Texas Rangers executed a search warrant on his home at the 400 block of E 37th St. The rangers were attempted to find a gun that was used in a murder but instead discovered more than 12 images of child pornography.

Rangers suspected that Villarreal had the weapon used to kill Sterling Mickey Riley in a shooting in Carlsbad the day prior. The person who allegedly killed Riley is 22-year-old Justin Ramirez. Following the shooting San Angelo LIVE! had an exclusive interview with Ramirez's girlfriend, Cheyenne Warner.

The drama filled story ended with Riley dead by way of gunshot. The gun used was allegedly purchased by Villarreal who then sold it to Ramirez.

Villarreal was arrested for the child pornography charges on Feb. 20 and was released on a personal recognizance bond on May 28, 2020. He will now spend the next four years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System.
