San Angelo Woman Indicted for Bank Card Abuse

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo woman has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for bank card abuse.

According to court documents, on March 12, 2021, investigators spoke with the victim regarding stolen bank information.

On March 1, 2021, the victim allowed the suspected party, Jennifer Nesbit, to stay at her residence. During the early morning hours, Nesbit stole the 2 of the victim’s bank cards from her purse which was left in the kitchen. One was a Wells Fargo card and the other was a Frost National Bank card.

The victim stated that multiple CASH APP accounts were activated on the bank card without her consent and believes that $215.00 was stolen from the account. The Wells Fargo card had reportedly not been activated at the time.

At night on March 1, 2021, the victim received a text message that read “We go you too! Lol how long did it take you to find the stuff. Always lock your door.” It is believed by the victim that Jennifer Nesbit sent the message.

The investigator verified ten transactions were drafted using the victim’s Frost National Bank account using CASH APP for a total of $203.00 between March 1st and 2nd.

On May 5, 2021, investigators received information from Counsel Investigations, INC with Square Capital, LLC verifying 3 accounts had been linked to the victim’s debit card information. One account had been registered to the victim and two accounts were identified a fraudulent.

One account showed to be registered with the victim’s name with Jennifer Nesbit as the “display name history”. The phone number that sent the victim the antagonizing text message was the same phone number identified as an “Alias” on the account.

The second account showed to be registered to Jennifer Nesbit and the victim’s Frost National Bank card information was linked to the account on March 1st at 2:46 a.m. and the victim’s Wells Fargo card information was linked to the account the same day at 2:49 a.m.

Jennifer Nesbit was arrested on August 17, 2021 and released the same day on $10,000.00 bond. Credit card or debit card abuse is a state jail felony and carries a fine up to $10,000.00 and 180 day or up to two years incarcerated in state jail.
