SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo man was sentenced to prison Thursday after taking a plea deal to aggravated sexual assault charge.
Mario Sanchez was originally charged with continuous sexual abuse entered a guilty plea to the lesser included charge of aggravated sexual assault.
According to court documents, on December 1, 2020, a San Angelo Police Detective attended a forensic interview of the child victim at the Hope House.
The victim stated that Mario Sanchez had sexually assaulted her starting when she was 12 or 13-years-old. The victim said the assaults occurred more than 10 times. All the assaults happened at Mario Sanchez’s residence.
When asked if any else had happened with Sanchez, the child victim said that when she was 10, Sanchez inserted his finger into her sexual organ. This occurred on several occasions until the victim told Sanchez it caused her pain.
At the time from the reported sexual assaults, Sanchez would have been 17 to 21 years old.
Sanchez had sent the victim Facebook messages and made references to taking the victim’s virginity. The message read; “R U still my bby girl do u love me still I did tke ur virginity.”
Sanchez has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the plea deal.
