SAN ANGELO, TX – Prosecutors in the Lisa Clemons' murder case will be asking for a bond increase Thursday after the suspect was caught drinking and driving over the weekend.
According to court documents, on Sep. 30, assistant District Attorney Sara Reyes filed a motion to increase the bond amount for Lisa Clemons, 38, from $150,000 to $500,000.
Clemons was originally arrested on Jun. 6, 2020 for the murder of her husband Antonio Fletcher. Fletcher was found in his home, on the 1200 block of Daniel St., with Clemons towering over his body with a gunshot wound to his left cheek.
Her original bond was set at $100,000 and was released on Oct. 28, 2020. Clemons' attorney Thomas Jackson then asked the judge to lower her bond to $50,000 which was approved on Dec. 1, 2020.
Months of hearings would continue without any trouble for Clemons until Apr. 25, 2021. On that day Clemons was arrested for public intoxication and fighting. The Reyes noted in her motion that during the arrest Clemons made "threatening comments towards officers, resisted and attempted to strike officers."
Following that arrest, Clemons' bond was raised from $50,000 to $150,000. Along with the raise in the bond, stipulations were added that prevented Clemons from consuming drugs or alcohol and kept her on an 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.
She violated those conditions on Sep. 26 after she was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety for driving while intoxicated at 4:59 a.m. She was booked and was released on a $1,000 surety bond.
Now the DA's office is attempting to lock her up as they state she "continues to be a threat to the safety to the community."
The court will decide if the bond will be raised on Sep. 30 at 3:30 p.m. As for now Clemons remains out of the Tom Green County Jail on bond.
