Violent Suspect Indicted for Threatening to Kill Cheating Spouse

SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo man was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in September for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlicensed possession of a firearm by a felon after threatening to shoot and kill his spouse in Foster Park.

On May 30, 2021, deputies responded Foster Park, located about 20 miles south of San Angelo, for a report of shots fired.

Deputies made contact with victim, who was at Foster Park in a travel trailer. She stated that Scott Collard was mad at her and upset over infidelity with their marriage.  She also stated that Collard dumped gasoline on the ground from their generator and threw a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol towards the river. Collard then left in a while truck.

Deputies also spoke with the victim’s son who had to jump from the car to 'save' his mother. The son stated to deputies that Collard was “probably going to kill her or something” and that Collard threw a pistol towards the river.

A 9mm Smith and Wesson magazine was located near the river.

A man who was staying in Foster Park in a tent near the travel trailer stated to deputies that he heard Collard yell “I know you’re cheating on me”, “I’m going to shoot you”, and “I’m going to end your life right now.”

The witness stated that Collard tried to push his wife’s vehicle into the river using his truck. He also heard a gunshot and saw Collard with a small handgun. The man also stated that Collard threw the gun and fled the scene in a white truck. He then saw the victim had gasoline on her body and that he heard Collard yell that he was going to set her on fire.

Investigators interviewed another witness who was at Foster Park that night. This witness, a woman, stated that Collard drove up to the travel trailer and started yelling and cussing at the victim.  The witness heard two gunshots and heard Collard threaten to kill his spouse, then flee the scene.

The investigator listened to the 911 call made on the night of the incident. In the call, the caller told dispatchers that there have been gunshots and said the victim had “gas poured all over her”.

The victim told the dispatcher that she had gotten into an argument with Collard and that he went into the travel trailer and got a pistol and threw it into the river. She then told the dispatcher that Collard left and was possibly en-route to their residence to get another firearm.

Using TLETS, investigators found that Collard is a convicted felon and that he is on deferred adjudication for a felony level offense he plead to in 2017. Scott Collard had a pending Motion to Revoke probation hearing for this offense.

Collard was arrested on June 6, 2021 and is currently an inmate in the Tom Green County Detention Facility.
