San Angelo Man Pleads Guilty to Online Solicitation

SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo man was sentenced Thursday in the Tom Green County Courthouse for online solicitation of a minor after taking a plea deal.

According to court documents, on October 29th, 2020, the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division conducted on online sting operation in Tom Green County.

An undercover officer established a profile as a minor on a social media platform and encountered the suspect’s profile titled “Carlos” and “Yandel”.

The suspect continued communication and expressed that he wanted to engage in sexual contact with the “minor”.

On November 18th, 2020, the suspect acted on this intent by driving to a prearranged location at a prearranged time for the purpose of sexual contact with the “minor”. Upon arriving at this location, the suspect was detained and identified as Christian N. Garcia Figueroa who promptly requested a lawyer after being read his rights.

Figueroa sent two photos of his pelvic area showing erect genitalia to the undercover officer still under the impression that the prolife belonged to a 15-year-old minor.

Figueroa refused when asked for consent to search his cellphone, but a “test” message was sent to Figueroa’s phone where it confirmed Figueroa was the one in contact with the undercover officer.

Christian N. Garcia Figueroa was arrested and booked into the TGCDF on November 18th, 2020, and was released the next day on $10,000.00 bond.

After pleading guilty to online solicitation of a minor, Figueroa was sentenced to ten years in TDCJ and ten years probation, and ordered to pay a $2,500.00 fine.
