Drug Dealer Sentenced to 5 Years After Taking Plea Deal

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was sentenced to prison Wednesday in a plea deal for being in possession of several different kinds of drugs.

According to court documents, around 10:00 p.m. on July 14th, 2020, a San Angelo police officer initiated a traffic stop on a black 2005 Dodge Ram truck for driving without headlights on. The officer made contact with the driver, Jerry Louis Battle Jr., and was able to detect the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Battle was removed from the vehicle and searched. Officers found a bag of ecstasy in Battle’s pocket and when searching the vehicle found 185.93 grams of marijuana, 9.02 grams of Xanax, and 11.5 grams of ecstasy inside the vehicle.

Battle was taken into custody and booked into the TGCDF on July 15th, 2020 and was released that same day $30,000.00 bond.

Battle was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of a controlled substance, 200 days for possession of marijuana, and has been ordered to pay $180.00 in restitution.
