Second Suspect Arrested In Officer-Involved Shooting

 

ODESSA – The Odessa Police Department confirmed a second arrest has been made in connection to an officer-involved shooting that occurred late last month.

According to OPD, on August 30th officers were dispatched to the area of 3rd and County Road to assist the Ector County Sheriff's Office regarding a robbery call.

During a subsequent pursuit, the suspects fired shots at officers and struck an OPD vehicle. While no one was injured in the shooting, officers later a 16-year-old male the next day.

The teen was charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant, a first-degree felony.

On Thursday, officers arrested 20-year-old Darien Gonzalo Sanchez in connection to the shooting. Sanchez was also charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant -- with additional charges expected to be added.
