Enraged San Angelo Man Bites Cop & Escapes Custody

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was arrested Sunday after he bit a cop in a wild attempt to escape custody.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, on Aug. 15, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 2900 block of Travis st. for the report of a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived, the officers discovered that Jeromy Thompson, 30, had committed an aggravated assault against one of his family members. The officers attempted to arrest Thompson but he resisted. At one point Thompson even bit one of the officers on the forearm.

Once in handcuffs, Thompson was able to pull away from officers. He attempted to run away but only got about 100 ft. before officers caught him. He remained handcuffed the entire time.

After the officers stopped Thompson he was cleared by medics and then was taken to the Tom Green County Jail. He currently is in the jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - family violence, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, and escaping custody.

His bond is currently set at $71,500.
