Alleged Perv Arrested After Sending Inappropriate Messages

RANKIN, TX – A 36-year-old Rankin man is facing serious charges after allegedly sending sexually explicit messages to a child.

According to the Upton County Sheriff's Office, the investigation into the matter began on the Fourth of July after deputies were dispatched to a home for a domestic disturbance.

During the initial investigation, authorities arrested and charged Michael Jaret Luman with aggravated assault –– family violence and violation of an emergency protection order.

After the arrest, deputies learned Luman may have been sending inappropriate messages to a child. Deputies obtained a search warrant for Luman's phone and located multiple messages that had “sexually explicit photographic image(s) and sexual language.”

Luman was additionally charged with online solicitation of a minor. He is currently being held at the Upton County Law Enforcement Center.
