Naked Man Caught on Video Hiding in Tanning Room to Spy on Unsuspecting Woman

SPARTANBURG, SC – A 22-year-old man who allegedly hid naked in a tanning room while a woman was tanning has been arrested and charged with indecent exposure.

According to Spartanburg Police, on Monday, officers responded to a Planet Fitness for a voyeurism complaint.

22-year-old Haven Grant was assigned a tanning room. He removed his clothes and walked into another tanning room and hid.

Then a woman walked into the room Grant was hiding in, got undressed, and went into the stand-up tanning bed for 15 minutes. She did not know anyone was inside the room until Planet Fitness called her.

'The employees at the business were looking through some videos. After looking at the videos, that’s when they noticed some things that didn’t look right, that looked strange,” said Major Art Littlejohn, with the Spartanburg Police Department.

Police said that employees at the gym made the discovery while reviewing surveillance video, and they quickly informed the police and the woman who was tanning.

“I think it was some great work by the employees who were there … watching the videos and noticing that something didn’t seem right and contacting law enforcement,” Littlejohn said.

Police advised people to be aware of their surroundings.

The gym called her to revoke her membership, saying she violated gym policy by going into an occupied room. She told management she understood policy, but she wasn't in the room with anyone.

Planet Fitness then reviewed the security footage again. It was discovered that Grant had entered the woman's tanning room before her.

After the woman left the tanning room, Grant, who was still naked, left the room and starting masturbating in the gym's common area.

Major Art Littlejohn with the Spartanburg Police Department said, “It’s not something that we typically see or that typically happens. So, this is probably a one-time thing.”

Haven Grant was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center and was charged with indecent exposure.

Planet Fitness did terminate Grant’s gym membership and the woman's membership has been restored.
