SAN ANGELO, TX – An Illegal Alien, arrested in San Angelo for molesting a child, is now facing federal charges.
According to federal court documents, on Jul. 14, a Grand Jury for the U.S. Northern District Court indicted Carlos Ayala, 38, for production of child pornography and enticement of a minor.
Ayala was originally arrested in Feb. 2021 after officers with the San Angelo Police Department were tipped about Ayala molesting a child. He was arrested that day for aggravated sexual assault and indecency with a child by sexual contact. He was indicted for that crime on Apr. 7.
Now new federal charges have revealed that from Oct. 2020 to Feb. 26, 2021 Ayala produced multiple videos and images depicting lewd acts with a child. The indictment states that visual depiction was produced using materials that had been mailed, shipped, and transported in interstate and foreign commerce.
The second count states that between that time period Ayala allegedly enticed a minor to have sex with him.
Ayala was released from the Tom Green County Detention Facility into federal custody on Aug. 11 at 11:58 a.m. Despite the new federal charges, Ayala will have to continue to face the state charges in Tom Green County.
He is also on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.
