Felon Indicted for Possession of a Firearm

SAN ANGELO,TX – Domingo James Cruz has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in July for unlawfully possessing a firearm as a felon.

A San Angelo police officer responded to a shots fired call at 37th Street and Bowie St. on May 11, 2021. The notes on the call indicated that two subjects were traveling east on 37th Street. These two individuals matched the description and were stopped.

The male subject initially told the officer his name was Nickolas Wayne Buck but he was later identified as Domingo James Cruz.

Cruz had his hand covered with a tan shirt which he refused to remove after the officer asked him to do so. The officer felt the shirt and felt a small hard object which Cruz said was a pipe. Cruz eventually removed the shirt and produced a glass meth pipe.

The officer then conducted a probable cause search and Cruz admitted to having a pistol in his front waistband.

Cruz was placed in handcuffs and the officer located a black .40 caliber hi-point handgun on Cruz’s person. Used syringes were also found in Cruz's possession.

Cruz was found to have county warrants and a felony conviction out of South Dakota.

Domingo James Cruz was booked into the TGCDF on May, 11th, 2021 and is currently being held on $15,000.00 bond.
