Midland Fugitive Leads Deputies on High Speed Chase

 

KERMIT, TX – A Midland man is behind bars after leading deputies on a high-speed chase across several counties Thursday.

According to authorities, 30-year-old Tyler Atkins sped through Winkler, Ector, and Loving County.

The chase began in Ector County at approximately 8:00 p.m. and Akins then began driving towards Winker County.  The chase continued to Loving County where Akins was taken to custody without incident.

Akins was charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, a third-degree felony, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, a Class A Misdemeanor.

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Winkler County Sheriff’s Office, Kermit Police Department, Loving County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Game Wardens all participated in the chase.
