Bombing Suspect Arrested After Explosion Rocks Quiet Texas Neighborhood

 

AMARILLO,TX – Amarillo Police have arrested a man suspected of setting off an explosion on the south side of Amarillo.

Around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Amarillo Police responded to the 3600 of Lenwood Drive for reports of an explosion and detained Erfan Salmanzadeh at the scene.

In the alley way, backyard, and house, investigators found bomb making material and Salmanzadeh was arrested for possession of components of explosives. Possession of these components is a 3rd degree felony.

Police evacuated 14 homes in the area and late last night the residents were allowed back into their home to grab several items but did not stay. According to reports, most residents chose to stay with family.

The FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, Bomb Team Technicians, and Amarillo Fire Department were collecting evidence as of Tuesday morning.

Traffic will be affected and the investigation will continue.

Erfan Salmanzadeh was booked into the Randall County Jail.
