Over 4 Pounds of Cocaine Seized Just Before Getting to San Angelo

 

STERLING CITY, TX – A Deputy with the Sterling County Sheriff's Office seized nearly a $100,000 worth of cocaine that was just miles away from entering San Angelo Saturday.

According to the SCSO, on Jul. 17 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Deputy Sanchez was patrolling Hwy 158 W of Sterling City when he pulled over a Grey Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop a probable cause search of the vehicle was performed. During the search approximately four and a half pounds of Cocaine was located inside the vehicle along with $2920 in cash.

The driver, Jesus Gonzalez, 19, was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility for manufacture and delivery of cocaine and money laundering.

He remains in the jail on a $75,000 bond.

The associated press reported in 2016 that the average cost for a pound of cocaine was around $15,000-$25,000.
