Drug Dealer Sentenced to Prison for Selling the Date Rape Drug

COLLIN COUNTY,TX – A Carrollton man has been sentenced to prison for intent to sell GHB, commonly known as the date rape drug.

According to court documents, 55-year-old Robert Joseph Mangiafico Jr. has been sentenced to 63 years in prison after being found guilty of intent to deliver a controlled substance and evading arrest.

Back in September 2019, Mangiafico Jr. was speeding down President George Bush Turnpike at 100 mph and when a trooper tried to stop him, Mangiafico started swerving through traffic. The chase went on for 10 miles and ended when Mangiafico crashed into a concrete barrier.

It was during the search after the crash that investigators found a two-liter soda bottle with 2,253 grams of GHB.

A detective said that Mangiafico was selling the drug because a single use amount is 1 or 2 grams.

Judge John Roach Jr. sentenced Mangiafico Jr. to 63 years for intent to deliver a controlled substance and 20 years for evading arrest.

Robert Joseph Mangiafico Jr. had previous theft convictions and a 40 year sentence for money laundering.
