Registered Child Predator Arrested in Tom Green County for Another Assault

SAN ANGELO, TX – A known sex offender was arrested Friday after allegedly sexually assaulting another child in San Angelo.

According to court documents, on Apr. 18, 2020, a child younger than 14 years old was at a residence in East San Angelo.

While in the home the child was in her mother’s bedroom playing when she was interrupted by 40-year-old David Wright.

Wright is accused of coming into the room and sparking a conversation with the child. He then began cuddling the child and eventually took the child’s pants off and sexually assaulted her.

Over a year later, on Jul. 9, officers with the San Angelo Police Department ran a computerized criminal history check and learned that Wright had been arrested for indecency with a child by sexual contact in 2006 after an incident that occured in Tarrant county.

He was arrested later that day and was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

He is currently in the Tom Green County Jail and his bond is set at $500,000.
