San Angelo Man Gets Prison Time After Molesting Small Child for Years

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo pervert will be sent to prison after admitting his guilt for molesting a small child.

According to court documents, on Jun. 7 Jason Murrell, 24, pleaded guilty to indecency with a child by sexual contact. He will spend the next eight years in a Texas prison.

Murrell was originally arrested in Oct. 2019 after deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office were alerted of a child that had been continuously molested for years.

The abuse had started when the child was 11 years old and continued until she was a teen. The child then made an outcry which led police to find her abuser, Murrell.

During police interviews Murrell admitted to knowing that the child was 11 years old and told her not to tell anyone or she would be in trouble.

At one point the child did tell her mother about the assaults. The victim's mother did nothing and is now facing charges for endangering a child. Her jury trial has been pushed back a number of times so far.

Murrell has been in the Tom Green County Jail since his initial arrest and will be given credit for his time served.
