SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police are investigating a stabbing Monday at the Stripes Convenience store on Glenna at Houston Harte.
According to San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer Tina Burks, on June 21, 2021, an altercation occurred at the 400 bock of E. Harris between 20-year-old Jerry Gonzales and his ex-girlfriend. She was driven away from that location by a friend in attempt to get away from the suspect. Gonzales followed them to the Stripes on Glenna, where the stabbing occurred.
At 9:09 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the Stripes located at 901 Glenna in reference to a stabbing that had just occurred. A 31-year-old male had been stabbed multiple times by the suspect. The suspect fled the scene prior to the police officers' arrival. Officers rendered first aid to the victim until medics arrived on scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is in stable condition. Gonzales was not located at the time of the incident.
On June 22 at 6:54 a.m., Officers were dispatched to 2300 Armstrong in reference to a domestic disturbance with an assault in progress. A passerby observed a male struggling with a female so they stopped to assist her. Officers arrived on scene and located Jerry Gonzales, the suspect in the prior evening's stabbing, at the back of the property. He was taken into custody without incident. Gonzales was booked into the Tom Green County Jail for Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon.
