SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was arrested Saturday after being accused of dragging his girlfriend by her head during a fight.
According to court documents, on Jun. 19, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of 19th St. for the report of an assault victim.
When they arrived they discovered a victim who had been assaulted by her on-and-off boyfriend, 32-year-old Tracy Cannon.
The affidavit states that during the assault the victim was restrained and dragged back to her mother's house before making an escape to a vehicle driving in the street. As the victim tried to get in the vehicle to escape Cannon, he once again restrained and dragged her by her head out of the door way as the vehicle drove off.
The victim then ran to a neighbor's house who intervened in the fight.
Officers gathered evidence including distinct and clear injuries of the woman being dragged on her legs and well as forming knots and swelling on her head consistent with being assaulted. The victim told police on scene that Cannon had assaulted her a number of times of the past six months.
Cannon was then arrested and charged with continuous violence against a family member and unlawful restraint causing serious bodily injury. His bond was set at $40,000 and he was released from the Tom Green County Jail on Jun. 20 at 6:13 p.m.
