Suspect Charged After Running Over Pregnant Wife

MIDLAND, TX -- Months after a Midland man ran over his pregnant wife, he has now been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, on March 28 Christopher Gonzales got into an argument on the side of the road with his wife. His wife was 8 months pregnant at the time.

After the victim stepped on the driver's side step rail of the truck Gonzales began to drive off, causing her to fall off the truck.

During an interview with deputies, Gonzales confessed he knew his wife was standing on the rail and was aware he had run her over when he felt a bump and heard her scream.

Midland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and they had the victim airlifted to a Lubbock area hospital.

The victim was placed in the ICU where she had to undergo an emergency C-section. Unfortunately, her baby did not survive.

Gonzales has been charged with murder in the death of the baby and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for running over his wife.
