SAN ANTONIO, TX – Lackland Air Force Base is currently on lockdown due to an active shooter.
The AFB announced the lock down on Jun 9 just before 1 p.m. and stated at the bottom "Real World LOCKDOWN, LOCKDOWN, LOCKDOWN"
According to KENS5 the San Antonio Police Department is handling the situation, and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office is assisting with patrolling around Lackland.
This is an active situation and the base is asking everyone to avoid the area. If you're on base the AFB stated "All base personnel implement LOCKDOWN procedures immediately and take cover."
UPDATE Jun. 9 2 p.m. per the Joint Base San Antonio.
There are no suspected injuries at this time. The shooting is suspected to have happened outside Valley Hi Gate on JBSA-Lackland. JBSA emergency responders are working with the SAPD to clear the area and search for the shooters.
A press conference is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The base is currently on a modified lockdown.
