San Angelo Man Indicted for Dealing Drugs

SAN ANGELO,TX- Armando Cruz was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in May for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and manufactured/delivery of a controlled substance.

According to court documents, a Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputy was at the San Angelo Lodge, located at 1717 West Beauregard Avenue in reference to a wanted person.

A female subject answered the door and a Sergeant with the Sheriff’s office noticed Cruz fleeing to the back of the room. Law enforcement then entered the room in an attempt to locate Cruz.

Armando Cruz and another man were found behind the bathroom door. The other man was detained while Cruz was taken into custody.

In the bathroom, the deputy observed a glass microwave tray and a dark colored plastic bag on the bathroom floor. Both objects contained suspected methamphetamine. Also found was a black and camouflage Walther PK380 pistol that was sitting on top of the toilet.

A field test was performed and confirmed the drugs to be methamphetamine.

Both the methamphetamine and firearm were in plain sight.

Armando Cruz was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on January 9th, 2021 and is currently an inmate with a $125,000.00 bond.
