SAN ANGELO, TX – Desiree's Preferred Gentleman's club in San Angelo is being sued for $1 Million Dollars for stealing the images of fourteen elite models in order to promote the club for years. Images were disseminated through "social media and the internet" to promote the "sexually-orientated business" which naturally rubbed the models the wrong way.
The lawsuit states that, "The Plaintiffs are all talented, highly successful models who earn substantial amounts of money by promoting and protecting their Images to various clients and take great pride in their reputation in their industry. It is common knowledge that any improper or unauthorized use of their images or likenesses will substantially injure their careers. . . The Plaintiffs’ Images were all positioned on the Internet and social media posts to imply that the Plaintiffs either worked as strippers at the Club or promoted or endorsed the Club and the events in the Internet and social media posts and are, therefore, defamatory on their faces."
Examples of said misappropriation include an image of Arianna Celeste Lopez, a UFC ring-girl and model for Playboy, and Maxim, etc. who boasts 1.8 million followers on instagram wearing an American Flag bikini while grilling hot-dogs to promote a barbecue event at Desiree's. Another has German Glamor model Jordan Carver in, once again, an American Flag bikini, while waving another American Flag and inviting people to come see her specifically at the club's special Veteran's Day event.
The Plaintiffs claim "all of the images misappropriated by Defendant were republished many
times in different formats to substantially different audiences on many occasions. Each
publication is a new violation of Plaintiffs’ rights."
While the Defense denies all charges one must wonder why they would, if in fact that did, steal the images. Could it be that they were hoping to lure in potential clients with more attractive talent than they actually possessed? In that case it is surprising that those who traveled to the club on that Veteran's Day to see the famous Jordan Carver of Quadruple-D (in fact 32HH) fame did not file a suit themselves.
The Plaintiffs are apparently facing several matters of the same nature across the country at the present time which means Desiree's is not alone in finding that it is hard for local talent to size up against supermodels. For this reason the Plaintiffs are hoping for a continuance which will be decided by the judge on June 14. However, if the case does move forward, regulars of Desiree's can rest assured that the club has insurance to cover all losses, according to the lawsuit, and may not soon go out of business.
